Ex-Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Ibrahim Shema, broke down into tears as EFCC rearrested him

Alhaji Ibrahim Shema, the former Governor of Katsina State, reportedly broke down in tears when he was re-arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday.
Mr. Shema was taken into custody by the anti-graft agency after his case was adjourned to February 21 by the Katsina State High Court.

The former governor was arraigned alongside three (3) others before Justice Ibrahim Maikanti Bako of the Katsina State High Court.
The EFCC had alleged that Shema and three others were charged with criminal breach, abuse of office and conversion of about N1.1billion public funds.
According to Thisday Newspaper, Mr. Shema arrived the court with his aide around 9am in a black Toyota Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), with registration number: ABJ 607 CV.
After the court session, former Governor Shema who was with his lawyer J.B Dawodu (SAN), was approached by the operatives of the EFCC notifying him of his arrest.
Other operatives of the anti-graft had already blocked every exit of the court premises to ensure there is no exit route for the governor.
After the drama, Shema who was almost out of the court premises returned back and headed into the court room.
His lawyer went to the judge to request for protection of the former governor from the EFCC.
As the situation became rowdy, the former governor reportedly broke down and started crying.
He was eventually smuggled into another tinted SUV with registration number ABJ 679 AZ in a bid to escape arrest.
Despite the plea from former governor’s lawyer, the EFCC called for more backup and reinforcement.
Mr. Shema and the EFCC however agreed to meet at the state commissioner of police office to resolve the issue.
